Now that it is February the Quince Brothers are keen to break their Winter snooze and say hello to the dawning of Spring.
They hold on to their leaves in Autumn and are always one of the first of my trees in the garden to start to stir into life again. Forgive the photo of my hand, I was having trouble getting my iphone to focus. I don't usually have to faff like this, but today my patience was not up the task of taking my time.Oh my dearest Quince Brothers, what a delight it is to see you coming back into growth. As ever I will be cautioning care about not budding up or opening your blossoms too early. You do like to blossom early and that is lovely, but also fraught with risk of frost damage. This year my dearest dearest quinces I really do want at least one quince. One quince between two trees should not be that much of an ask should it? If I was being really bold I would ask for one quince each: but let's not get ahead of ourselves. It is February, there is the glimmer of life and that is enough. It is enough - promise.
Take care and be kind.
